Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2¼ tsp) instant yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries (or thawed frozen strawberries)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ⅓ cup powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add warm milk, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a small saucepan, combine chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the strawberries break down (5–7 minutes). Stir in cornstarch and simmer until thickened. Let cool completely.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and spreadable.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 14×9 inches). Spread the cheesecake filling evenly across the dough. Spoon the cooled strawberry filling on top. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 9–12 slices.
- Place rolls into a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
- Beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over warm rolls and enjoy!
Notes
Use room-temperature cream cheese so it blends smoothly. Don’t skip the second rise for extra fluffy rolls. Swap strawberries with blueberries or raspberries for a twist!
