Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bag of Doritos (any flavor – Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch work great)
- 6–8 slices of mozzarella cheese (or any melty cheese like cheddar or pepper jack)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil work best)
- Optional: Jalapeño slices or hot sauce
- Optional: Garlic powder or paprika for coating
Instructions
- Match Doritos into pairs of similar size to make sandwiches and set aside.
- Cut cheese slices to fit the Doritos and place between each pair, pressing gently.
- Place stuffed Doritos on a tray and freeze for 20–30 minutes.
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs and milk, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Dip each frozen sandwich in flour, then egg mixture, then breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for extra crunch.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry each stuffed Dorito for 1–2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
- Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Freeze before frying to keep the cheese intact. Try with different Doritos flavors and cheeses. Air fryer alternative: cook at 375°F for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway.
