Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- ½ cup beef broth
- ½ cup frozen peas (optional)
- 1 box Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix (plus included seasoning packet)
- ¾ cup milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add diced onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Stir in garlic, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth and frozen peas (if using). Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Transfer beef mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- In a medium bowl, combine the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix, seasoning packet, milk, melted butter, and shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of biscuit batter over the beef mixture.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Let the cobbler rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Don’t overmix the biscuit topping — it should be slightly lumpy. Add veggies like bell pepper or corn to the filling for variation. Leftovers reheat well!
