Cheddar Bay Ground Beef Cobbler

Hearty ground beef meets fluffy Cheddar Bay biscuits in this cozy, one-dish wonder — perfect for weeknight comfort food with rave-worthy flavor.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 portions 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ½ cup frozen peas (optional)
  • 1 box Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix (plus included seasoning packet)
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Add diced onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Stir in garlic, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and frozen peas (if using). Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Transfer beef mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. In a medium bowl, combine the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix, seasoning packet, milk, melted butter, and shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until just combined.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of biscuit batter over the beef mixture.
  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Let the cobbler rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Don’t overmix the biscuit topping — it should be slightly lumpy. Add veggies like bell pepper or corn to the filling for variation. Leftovers reheat well!
