Freshly Baked French Dip Biscuits with Melted Cheese and Au Jus

Baked French Dip Biscuits

Buttery, golden biscuits filled with savory roast beef and melty provolone, served with a warm au jus dip. A handheld twist on the classic French Dip—perfect for cozy dinners or game-day snacks!

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 biscuits 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated biscuit dough (like Pillsbury Grands)
  • 8 slices deli roast beef (thinly sliced)
  • 4 slices provolone cheese, cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for brushing)
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 2 cups water (for the au jus)
  • Optional: garlic powder or Italian seasoning for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin (8 cups).
  2. Flatten each biscuit slightly with your hands or a rolling pin to make a 4-inch round.
  3. Place half a slice of provolone cheese in the center of each dough round, top with one slice of roast beef (folded), and add the other half of the cheese slice on top.
  4. Pinch and seal the biscuit edges around the filling to form a ball. Place seam-side down into the muffin tin cups.
  5. Optional: Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder or Italian seasoning for extra flavor.
  6. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and biscuits are cooked through.
  7. While baking, prepare the au jus according to the package directions (usually just whisking the mix into hot water and simmering for a few minutes).
  8. Serve warm with small bowls of au jus for dipping. Prepare to dip, bite, and swoon!

Notes

Seal the biscuit dough well to avoid cheese leakage. Try variations like adding caramelized onions or using different cheeses like Swiss or pepper jack for a kick!
