- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup slivered or chopped almonds (lightly toasted, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Gently stir in the chocolate chips and almonds.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing each about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are just set.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For extra flavor, lightly toast the almonds before adding them. Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies. These cookies freeze well both baked and as dough.
